“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?”  President Ronald Reagan’s first Inaugural Address – January, 1981.

Please see my very important message below – Mat.

After listening to the highly partisan and divisive rhetoric of Barack Obama’s second Inaugural Address, and recognizing just how hollow it rang as it claimed a mandate the President simply hasn’t earned, I found myself yearning for the unifying, inspirational leadership that graced America from 1981 -1989.

If you are 50 or older, you know exactly what I mean.  If you are younger, I pray with all my heart the Lord will allow you to one day live as an adult under a president who honestly strives to govern above politics and serve all of the American People.

President Ronald Reagan, the great champion of American exceptionalism, famously asserted…

“The most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I'm from the government and I'm here to help.’”

Fifteen years later, President Bill Clinton declared…

“The era of big government is over.”

Then came Barack Obama, who promised he would fundamentally transform the United States of America.

To “fundamentally transform” our nation, Barack Obama felt he had to systematically attack the rights and self-rule of individual Americans. By his reckoning, he had to change a society that rewards success, hard work, and personal responsibility into an entitlement society composed of people who think they are owed a “fair share” of what others have earned.

As we now know, President Obama effectively bought reelection by turning a nation of doers into a nation of takers.

++Fundamental transformation?  Sadly, he’s succeeding.

President Barack Obama’s Inaugural Address on Monday clearly articulated his belief that government is the best – if not only – solution for a host of challenges that should be addressed through “collective action,” a term indicative of the Great Community Organizer’s socialist indoctrination in his formative years by a long list of fellow travelers.

Following the address, Reuter’s reported…

“‘It was a liberal checklist,’ said one aide to a senior Republican in Congress. ‘I didn't hear any outreach to conservatives or the half of the country who didn't think he should be president. He was only speaking to the people who voted for him. That's fine, but it wasn't a call for unity. It wasn't a call for smaller government. It was a call for bigger government.’”

“‘It was a speech outlining vigorous support for expanding the size and reach of government - at a time when there is a national call for, and bipartisan support of, reduced Washington spending,’ said Don Stewart, spokesman for Republican Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate Minority Leader.”

Mark my words: It is abundantly clear that President Obama has declared open warfare on conservative ideals in his second term. He believes only “progressive” winds are filling his sails.

His speech spoke of national unity while it demonized anyone opposing his agenda. He believes that conservatives are fiercely hostile to his cause because we stand for non-negotiable, established principles.

He has, in effect, announced that in his second term…

He will marginalize those who oppose his agenda using propaganda, the power of public opinion, and Big Government oppression.

He will aggressively co-opt patriots’ core values by giving strange new meanings to our treasured principles, brazenly insisting that “up is down and down is up.”

He will continue to diminish the idea of American exceptionalism and vilify any who hold to our national sovereignty.

He will sidestep Congress whenever it suits his agenda and manipulate it when he needs to project the appearance of lawful governance.

He will continue to dismantle our constitutional rights, as he has all too successfully done in his first term.

The bottom line is that President Barack Obama will continue running roughshod over the constitutional foundations of our government’s balance of power and every American’s personal liberties.

We must not allow our God-given rights to be suppressed by a President who has no regard for the rule of law or the checks and balances built into the framework of our Constitution and its precious Bill of Rights!

Liberty Counsel’s “I Second the First” campaign communicates to our elected representatives that…

“We the People” demand that our federal government return to the rule of law as established by the United States Constitution!

Patrick, will you stand together with me and tens of thousands of other patriots and protect our Constitution and its First and Second Amendments, which are the very heart of every American's Bill of Rights, against these radical attacks?

Ronald Reagan had the correct view of government.  He knew, as you and I do, that we should believe more in the American people, the church, and thoughtful patriots who hold the values required to help our nation when our nation needs help.  We desperately need that help now!

God bless you for standing with us,

P.S. Our President has effectively declared war on conservative ideals and values. He demonizes his opposition, mocks the legislative process, and abandons the rule of law to advance HIS agenda at any cost – and that’s truly divisive.

How can there be “unity” when a statist, ultraliberal, abortion promoting agenda is what we are all expected to pitch in and support?  We cannot allow our blood-bought liberties to be systematically dismantled under a despotic regime seeking forced cooperation!

Please take just a moment today and add your name to our powerful “I Second the First” petition or pass it along to your like-minded friends:
