In what amounts to yet another cynical move by this Lame Duck Congress, Harry Reid is using all the powers of his position to push his bill legalizing online gambling -- a payback for the huge check Big Gambling wrote to ensure his re-election.
One Capitol Hill insider said Reid is "pressing his foot on the gas for this." The bill is expected to be added as an amendment on one of a number of "must pass" pieces of legislation.
+ + "Dirty Harry" Politics At Its Worst
This is yet another example of the underhanded world of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi political machine. According to the Washington Post, Reid's campaigns have received $1.6 million directly from the gambling industry in the last 20 years. And during this election cycle:
"Two major Las Vegas casino companies, Caesars
Entertainment and MGM Resorts International,
also gave a combined of $375,000 to an outside
Democratic group, Patriot Majority, that ran
election ads in favor of Reid this fall."
Big Gambling won Reid's election for him and now they are getting their payback!
