Stop the looting of Louisiana's fair share!
Due in part to Levees.org's efforts, Congress granted Louisiana its fair share (37.5%) of revenues from new offshore drilling.
And the state of Louisiana, in an unprecedented move, voted to spend all of that money on coastal restoration.
Both these actions were fair and necessary because the carving up of Louisiana's wetlands for oil and gas exploration - for the benefit of the entire nation - has led directly to the loss of Louisiana's natural hurricane defenses.
But three U.S. Senators (New Mexico, N. Dakota and W. Virginia) are plotting to undo your hard work!
If you have family or friends in these three states, please ask them to call their Senator and say this:
"I am a constituent and I believe that Louisiana deserves its fair share - 37.5% - of the revenues from royalties on new offshore drilling in the Gulf."
Sen. Bingaman (New Mexico) at 202-224-5521
Sen. Dorgan (North Dakota) at 202-224-2551
Sen. Rockefeller (West Virginia) at 202-224-6472.
In 2007, you worked hard and pressured your members of Congress to vote for giving Louisiana its fair share. Don't let your hard work be for naught!
ASK YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO CALL BY 5P EST APRIL 22.
Thank you for your continued efforts for Levees.org
