Yesterday afternoon I received joyous news that Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were heading home--released from their hellish two-year stay in solitary confinement nearly a month sooner than anticipated!
While our offices were celebrating the news, Monica Ramos
told FoxNews "It's a great day for me. We've been anticipating
this for quite a while now but seeing him walk through those
doors today was just surreal."
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA), an outspoken champion for Ramos
and Compean from the beginning of this nightmare, said in his
statement, "I wish the Ramos and Compean families the best as
they now try to pick up the pieces and begin to heal from this
terrible ordeal."
Although freed, both former agents will remain under "house arrest" until March 20. At that time both will be on "supervised release" for three years.
I am humbled by those members of our team who signed our petition, sent a fax, picked up the phone, or sent a note, card or letter to Ramos and Compean letting them know that they hadn't been forgotten.
I am grateful for your never-give-up attitude--even when it appeared the President wasn't listening to our requests.
Without question the Grassfire team played a key role in why these men are home with adoring wives and children tonight!

I've been told that the Ramos family has appealed Nacho's conviction to the Supreme Court and is awaiting word on whether or not they will hear the case. As Monica told FoxNews, "I won't stop until they tell me I've exhausted all avenues and they tell us that we can't fight anymore."
Grassfire will continue to support both families in any way possible as they seek healing and closure.
