AN OPEN LETTER TO THE WOMEN OF AMERICA
Elizabeth Baily
Being a woman who has been active in the Liberty movement I have often been asked “Why are you so involved? Do you not feel this is a job for our men?” My answer is always the same to both questions. Let me answer them one at a time. No this isn’t a job for JUST our men! The battle for our liberty is a battle we all must fight using the gifts, abilities, resources and personal traits that we can bring to the table.
The battle to be fought isn’t one with violence but with a knowledge, wisdom, empowerment and protest. No-one wins in a violent battle and no-one on the Liberty movement side truly wants that. However, there are things that we need. One of those things we need is to remember our traditions and history as a human race of people. This covers ALL ethnic backgrounds and peoples! At any point in history when a noble cause was fought (again non-violent) it always took the involvement of both men AND women. We have forgotten that hand in hand force proven so many times in the past to be so effective.
We could go back through history at any point and see the importance of both sexes fighting together. The women were a pivotal part of the indigenous peoples and their battles, the women were a pivotal part in the American Revolution, the women were a pivotal part in the Civil Rights movement, etc. Our society has put women in a place where they seldom feel welcome in a battle much less in a battle for Liberty. We (men and women) have forgotten our extremely important roles and influence.
I can not stress enough for you take your place in this noble cause!
Women have always been great at spreading information. How many times have we been the butt of jokes for this very fact? Spreading correct information is a major need in this battle. Women have always been able to take their emotions and compassion and to pour them out for everyone to not only hear but we have always had a gift to be able to make people feel those emotions and compassion. Women have also always been able to take their anger and frustrations and force people to listen.
We have also been known to scare even the biggest, baddest men when we are angry. Have you never heard the words “Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn”? Women have always been some of the most fierce forces to reckon with when it comes to protecting their families and friends. Have you ever noticed how we are often compared to a momma bear or momma lion protecting her cubs?
These things are what confuses me when women and sometimes men ask me “Why are you so involved?” Because I am a woman my response is different than many others. I view everything I do not only as a woman but as a wife and a mother.
I look at Susan Hammond and think of her dealing with the massive amount of chores for such a large ranch all on her own. I think of her lying down in a empty bed at night thinking of her husband while he sits in federal prison unjustly. I think of her looking at pictures of her son as a child and can feel anger rise in my spirit because I know as a mother her protecting instinct must be eating at her because her son also sits in federal prison unjustly. I look at Jeanette Finicum and think of how she will never feel the loving embrace of her husband again. She will never experience another romantic moment with the love of her life. Her children will never again have their father to turn to for advice and counsel in their growing families. They will never hear “I’m proud of you” or “I love you” from their daddy again. I think of LaVoy and Jeanette’s grandchildren who will never hear the stories from papaw or be able to crawl up on his lap for hugs and kisses again. I think of the unborn grandchildren and how they will never get to experience their papaw through anything other than stories, videos and pictures. I think about the wives, girlfriends, mothers, sisters etc of those who are being held in jail unjustly. How they are facing such a uphill battle and their men have been taken captive by a tyrannical government unjustly.
I stand back with all these thoughts and images in my head, my heart and I think these women could be me. These men could be my husband. These children could be my children. Then I ask the question: If they were me, my husband or my children what would I want the American people to do? Would I not want people to stand and help? Of course I would. At this point many people say “I hope somebody does something!” However I say to you now, Are you not somebody?
When will we as women stand? When will we as women remember our roles and our places in this battle for Liberty? When will we as women stand and say that our families and our men are off limits to a tyrannical government?
I stand here before you now and say that I am standing! I am taking my role as a woman in this battle.
Will you, my sisters, join me in this noble cause and stand in protection of our families, our men and our Liberty?
Sincerely,
A wife, mother and woman standing for Liberty
Elizabeth Bailey
