It is valuable for people to read about the claims made by the Cardinals of the Vatican when crowning a new Pope.
Notice that the declaration has very little reference to the Pope being the head of a religious organization:

And, what an irony one observes when one researches the etymology of the term 'Jesus Christ'. The term literally translates into English as 'The Greased Earthly Pig'
