Your message to the FCC and Congress:

(optional):

On June 2, the Federal Communications Commission intends to lift restrictions on media ownership that will allow my local newspaper, cable provider, radio stations, and TV channels all to be owned by one company. The result will be the disappearance of the checks and balances provided by a competitive media marketplace -- and huge cutbacks in local news and reporting. Good, balanced information is the basis for our democracy. That's why I am asking that: Congress and the FCC stop media deregulation and work to make the media diverse, competitive, balanced, and fair.

File my comment as a public comment with the FCC.

I authorize MoveOn.org to send an email statement containing my comment (see right), in my name and from my email address, to my representatives in Congress.

SUBJECT: Stop Media Deregulation

__________

Dear Representative,

I urge you and your colleagues in Congress to promote a diverse, balanced, and competitive media. Please stop the FCC rule change on June 2. (Your personal note)

We allow media companies to use the airwaves in exchange for their assurance that they're serving the public interest, and it's the FCC's job to make sure that's so. Please hold the FCC to its mandate and oppose the rule change.

Sincerely,

(your name)
