Unhealthy Little Secrets

rs of other countries, evil. Judging from the 9/11 report just out, it appears that there never was an al-Quaida/Iraq connection so God may have slipped up or Bush misunderstood Him.

This whole preemptive war stuff is very confusing. Almost as confusing as the way presidential secrets are kept. We were thinking of how Franklin Roosevelt was confined to a wheel chair but only his staff and the media knew it. The voters were never told because they might see it as a sign of weakness in their leader.

And then there was Jack Kennedy. Voters thought he was a devout Catholic and family man. Again, his staff and the media knew he played around but they never let on to the voters. Kennedy also kept the severity of his illness, including the potency of his medication, from the public with the media’s tacit approval. Medication that could effect his decision making ability.

Grover Cleveland had two operations for cancer while in office. When the media reported this, the White House denied it saying it was a bad tooth extraction.

William Henry Harrison and Zachary Taylor died in office, George Washington almost did, and Andrew Jackson was in pain almost every day. Few Americans at the time, however, knew just how sick their presidents were.

Harry Truman, we are now told, had a heart condition and he pledged his doctor to secrecy so not even the staff or the media knew. And Bill Clinton’s life was so wide open that the media grew bored and made up stories about him. Anything goes as long as it’s sludge.

How greatly history might have been changed if the media had emphasized the words of Juanita Broderick’s friends. They revealed that she often came home beaten up because she liked rough sex. Oops, there goes the rape charge.

Or, what if the media had expounded on what Paula Jones’ family reported as to why she went to then Governor Clinton’s hotel room. But it never happened because the Conservative juggernaut that descended on Little Rock to muddy Clinton had a sure thing with a cooperative media.

Today after weeks of blaming the CIA, the White House reluctantly seems to be taking some of the blame for the misinformation in the State of the Union speech. One guy in the NSC fell on his sword to protect Condi who, under direct order from Cheney, really decides what George Bush wants to say when he speaks.

Still we hear no Trumanesk revelation from Bush asserting that he is responsible for what he read in that speech. Now with the 9/11 report, heavily redacted, coming out, it is Cheney who makes the speech to take the heat off the administration. Bush’s scared bunny reaction to reporters questions made it imperative that he be kept in the loose cannon lockup.

We know from books written about Bush [which the media ignores] that he has had people around to put words in his mouth ever since he began his political life. He has the name [Bush], he has the connections [prez-poppy] and he has the money. His brains, through many abusive years, were left in the pipe and bottle.

One need not visualize the public service commercial showing the egg frying in hot oil with the caption, “this is your brain on drugs”, to understand what happens to the mind when these chemicals are abused. One just needs to listen to Bush speak when he is not carefully reading a prepared and much practiced speech.

Reporters are covering for him just as they did Kennedy. They have been excusing his most egregious errors of speech and deportment by writing what his keepers tell them he meant to say instead of the jumble that comes from his mouth. All but a very few reporters have ignored his desertion in wartime and his striptease antics in uniform.

One thing among many that his handlers fear is that a photo of Bush will surface showing him, uniform and skivvies cast aside, dancing stark naked on a bar. There are many witnesses to these frequent exposures but without a picture to jolt and shame them, the media has chosen to disregard this and his many other escapades. Just childhood pranks, yaw, sure, you betcha!

But we are given reports of how buff Bush is. How very physically healthy he is. We hear of his exercise schedule, his heart rate and his diet. What we don’t hear about is his mental health history and medications.

And again as with Kennedy, we do not know the medications and their affects. This is not only an unhealthy little secrete, it’s a dirty and potentially dangerous little secrete and one that the voters MUST learn or suffer the consequences. # Comments may be sent to: twanda@sover.net
