Monday morning, in the wake of President Trump’s executive order which temporarily banned immigration from seven countries with a high concentration of terrorist activity, the major networks – ABC, CBS, and NBC – devoted 64 minutes and 8 seconds to the developments.

NewsBusters analyst Mike Ciandella compared the coverage to the media response after former President Barack Obama ended the U.S. Cuban refugee program earlier this month. Ciandella found that the same three networks devoted a mere 68 seconds to Obama’s move in the corresponding timeframe.

In total, the networks gave Trump’s policy 57 times the amount of coverage they gave Obama’s. While network coverage of Trump’s order was almost entirely negative, they were largely praiseworthy of the Obama move which makes it almost impossible for Cuban citizens to escape the oppressive Castro regime.

There is a strong pattern of wild double standards in coverage since President Trump took office. The Media Research Center will continue to document, expose, and neutralize blatant liberal bias in the national media.
