The host of a government-funded game-show you probably have never heard of is peddling lies about President Trump. Like the game-show, it's not funny.

Peter Sagal, host of "Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me!" told the National Public Radio audience that President Trump's new budget "slashed" spending on everything, including Medicare and Medicaid. The host was putting a question to a contestant about Mick Mulvaney, the President's Office of Management and Budget Director.

"We missed this in a lot of things going on, but the Trump administration actually laid out their official budget this week, and it's basically - it's just money for guns and tanks and just enough new highway for them to have a parade on. Everything else is slashed - the NEA, the CDC, NEH, CPB, TBS, T.J. Maxx, science programs and Medicare and Medicaid. Don't worry, though - don't worry, though. If you're worried how you're going to live without these important programs, don't worry." He told the audience, before working in a jab about Stormy Daniels.

Sagal worked in the name of a store and a TV network to make it a joke, but it's not funny, or accurate; the liberal Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget reports that Trump's budget proposal doesn't slash Medicare, but, "Between 2018 and 2028, nominal Medicare spending would grow by 120 percent instead of 134 percent." The President is proposing slashing his job though, by defunding the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Now that would be funny.
