The North Korean mission to the United Nations has denied the country’s involvement in a hacking attack on Sony Pictures after American officials accused the Asian country of the raid.

“Our country has no relation with the hacker,” North Korean political counselor Kim Song said on Friday, adding, “This is not worth a comment.”

The hack — which has been described as the most devastating cyber attack on a US business — has paralyzed Sony Pictures and led to the cancellation of a controversial movie, The Interview, that depicts the fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

The hackers, who called themselves “Guardians of Peace,” warned people not to go see the movie.

They threatened 9/11-style terrorist attacks on the US movie theaters screening The Interview.

“Remember the 11th of September 2001. We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time,” the hackers said in a message on Tuesday.

In a statement released on Friday, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said it had possessed evidence that Pyongyang was behind the hacking.

We have “enough information to conclude that the North Korean government is responsible for these actions,” the statement noted.

The White House also said on Thursday that the attack was a “serious national security matter” and that the US was considering a “proportional” response.
