My physician said that the H1N1 itself is not the real worry, it's the potential realted to the bird flu. The Swine flu is easily spread but not very fatal, as many have written here. The Bird Flu, is the opposite, not easily spread but extremely fatal. The fear is that the two will somehow mutate (not sure of actual term) and we get the worst of both, an easily spread, very dangerous virus. While the H1N1 is not as virulent as the regular flu, the regular flu still kills 30,000 people per year in the US and has the effect of taking people out of work.
