Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis is continuing his crusade against the left’s destructive cultural Marxism embodied in curriculum for schools and corporations like ‘critical race theory’ which brainwashes Americans into believing every institution in the country is racist now because whites created most of them.

As such, DeSantis introduced a new proposal on Wednesday that opposes the teaching of CRT in Florida’s K-12 classrooms called the “Stop W.O.K.E. Act” — for “Stop Wrongs Against Our Kids and Employees Act.” The governor introduced it alongside Lt. Gov. Jeanette Núñez and Commissioner of Education Richard Corcoran during a live-streamed event in Wildwood last week.

“Our legislation will defund any money for K-12 going to CRT consultants,” DeSantis said. “No taxpayer dollars should be used to teach our kids to hate our country or hate each other.”

“We’re also not going to allow the staff or employees or teachers in our education system to be subjected to that type of training where they’re forced to sit there and listen,” DeSantis said.

“This is wrong when it’s done to our kids, but it’s also wrong to force employees to have to go through that.”

Fox News added more context:

The Florida Department of Education previously enacted a rule to prevent CRT-inspired content in the state’s K-12 schools. DeSantis has emphatically condemned critical race theory (CRT) — a framework that involves deconstructing aspects of society to discover systemic racism beneath the surface.

“Florida’s civics curriculum will incorporate foundational concepts with the best materials and it will expressly exclude unsanctioned narratives like critical race theory and other unsubstantiated theories,” DeSantis said in March.

“Let me be clear: There is no room in our classrooms for things like critical race theory,” he continued. “Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money.”

In discussing his new proposal, DeSantis also ripped the so-called “woke ideology” he said seeks to change the understanding of our country and its founding document.

“They want to tear at the fabric of our society and our culture,” the governor said. “They want to delegitimize the founding of the country and the Constitution.”

The GOP governor and oft-mentioned 2024 presidential contender also blasted the term “equity.”

“Just to understand, when you hear equity used, that is just an ability for people to smuggle in their ideology because we don’t need to have these terms,” he said.

“We have a society based on equality, where you’re treated equally. Regardless of your upbringing, regardless of your race, you have the same rights and privileges as anybody else,” DeSantis added. “Equity is used to put the thumb on the scale in favor of their ideology.”

According to a press release from DeSantis’ office, the Stop WOKE Act goes beyond school classrooms.

“Now the progressive activists’ CRT agenda is not only in education, but also in corporate boardrooms and employee trainings at some of America’s most powerful corporations,” the release said. “Workers are subjected to trainings pushing the falsehoods that America is a ‘white supremacist’ country, and that white Americans are ‘raised to be racist’ from early childhood. These divisive narratives and indoctrination programs create a hostile environment in violation of our laws and principles.”

In his press conference discussing the legislation, DeSantis also discussed a teacher initiative.

“We also have been able to help teachers; we just launched —and it’s going to come into effect next year — the civics training program, where if you go through it, really get deep knowledge and understanding on the fundamentals, you get a $3,000 bonus,” he said.

“So we want all our students to understand: why was our country founded? What were some of the key ideas that made us different? For example, our founding fathers said that we are endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights,” DeSantis added.
