You may be putting accelerators to the car leading you to strokes! This has been revealed according to a new study that shows how you may be risking your health with diet sodas.

The research was conducted at the American Stroke Association’s International Conference. In the study, there were different groups of people; one group was of the ones who regularly drank soda, and the other group had the ones who did not have soda very regularly.

The results were precise and clear. Those who drink soda on a regular basis are 48% more likely to suffer from a paralysis stroke or some other vascular event.

This risk was irrespective of the age, sex, alcohol consumption, smoking status, exercise, heart disease or peripheral disease history.

Though these developments were enough to say that there may be a risk of stroke to the ones drinking excess of diet sodas, still there need to be strong facts laid regarding the same and this is going to take a while.

"If our results are confirmed with future studies, then it would suggest that diet soda may not be the optimal substitute for sugar-sweetened beverages for protection against vascular outcomes," said Hannah Gardener, lead author and epidemiologist at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine in Miami, Fla., in a statement.
