Americans facing threat of state terrorism: Analyst

State-sponsored terrorism waged by the US government is the only threat facing Americans, a policy analyst from Chicago says.
“There is no terrorist threat to the US homeland, the only threat Americans face is their own government,” Stephen Lendman, an author and radio host, told Press TV on Saturday.
He made the comments after US Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson warned Friday that the Syrian conflict has become a “matter of homeland security” for the United States.
Johnson raised concern about a handful of Americans who have fought alongside militants in Syria and have now returned home. He did not say how many Americans have joined the insurgency.
In testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday, CIA Director John Brennan also said that militant groups in Syria are increasing in number and may soon attack both regional and Western countries.
Lendman said the notion that insurgents in Syria pose a homeland threat to the US is “hypocritical” and “a bald-faced lie,” as the United States is funneling cash and weapons to the very same groups.
There are some indications, the analyst said, that the CIA and US Special Forces are training al-Qaeda-affiliated groups in Jordan to use chemical weapons in Syria and blame it on the Syrian government.
Lendman said that the post-9/11 policies of former president George W. Bush, which have been continued by President Barack Obama, are the real threat to America and the rest of the world.
“The only terrorism in America is state terrorism waged against other people which Bush and Obama have done.”
“If enough people finally awaken to that reality, maybe we can do something to stop what’s going on, otherwise Obama’s war on humanity will continue,” the analyst said.
