‘US makes money out of destruction, war’

There is “a very ugly scenario” where “U.S. munitions companies” and “U.S. banks” make money wherever “there is war and destruction going on,” says an American activist and journalist.
On Tuesday, media reports said that the U.S. is selling Israel munitions worth $647 million in order to renew its stock following its deadly offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip last month.
This comes as, according to Palestinian authorities, 120 buildings were completely destroyed in the Israeli offensive and 8,000 buildings were damaged.
“That’s a scenario that [the U.S.] carries out across the world. Where there is war and destruction going on, there are U.S. munitions companies making money, there are U.S. banks making money, and there is U.S. policy driving the offensive against local populations”, said Don DeBar in a phone interview with the U.S. Desk on Wednesday.
Israel receives about $3 billion from the U.S. in direct foreign assistance each year, which is roughly one-fifth of America’s foreign aid budget.
