The First Gulf War
The initial conflict to expel Iraqi troops from Kuwait began with an aerial bombardment on 17 January 1991. This was followed by a ground assault on 23 February. Coalition forces liberated Kuwait and advanced into Iraqi territory and then ceased their advance to declare a cease-fire on 28 February 1991, just 100 hours after the ground campaign started.
As with almost any war that the U.S. has found itself in, the reasons given by the U.S. Government to justify invading Iraq in 1991 were based on calculated and deliberate lies repeatedly propagated by the corporate controlled western media.
