LHC Moved Against Musharraf
 
LAHORE, Pakistan, 30 August 2009 (Daily Times) - A petition, seeking

registration of a case against former military ruler General (R)

Pervez Musharraf for Benazir Bhutto's assassination, was filed in the

Lahore High Court [LHC] on Friday.

 
[PPP] Interior Minister Rehman Malik and [PPP] Parliamentary Affairs

Minister Babar Awan, former Intelligence Bureau Director-General Ejaz

Shah, former [PML-Q] Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, former

caretaker Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz, Interior Secretary Kamal Shah

and former Interior Ministry spokesman Javed Iqbal Cheema were named

as respondents in the petition.

 
[Advocate] Chaudhry [Mohammad] Aslam, former protocol officer of the

slain premier [and PPP Federal Council (Punjab) Member], moved the

petition. The petitioner's counsel said the [Benazir] assassination

was an international conspiracy in which Musharraf and other

respondents were involved. He requested the court to order the

registration of an FIR [police report] against the respondents.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa is likely to take up the petition on August

31 [2009].

LAHORE, Pakistan, 30 August 2009 (TNI) - An application has been filed

before Lahore High Court seeking registration of FIR against former

[PMLQ-MQM] President Pervez Musharraf, [PPP] Interior Minister Rehman

Malik, [PPP] Parliamentary Affairs Minister Babar Awan and 12 others

in Benazir [Bhutto] assassination case.

 
The application was filed by Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, the protocol

officer of former [PPP] Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, through his

counsel Manzoor Ahmad, Advocate.

 
Earlier, an additional district and sessions judge had dismissed his

petition on the ground that the [PPP] federal government is

investigating the [Benazir murder] case.

 
Other respondents include former Intelligence Bureau Director-General

Ejaz Shah, former [PML-Q] Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi, former

Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz, Interior Secretary Kamal Shah and

former spokesman for the Interior Ministry, Javed Iqbal Cheema.

LAHORE, Pakistan, 30 August 2009 (OINN) - Lahore High Court (LHC) has

admitted for hearing the petition seeking registration of FIR against

former [MQM-PMLQ] President Pervez Musharraf, [PPP] Interior Minister

A. Rehman Malik, [PPP] Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan

and other 12 persons in Benazir assassination case.

 
The court has issued notices to the respective parties. The petition

was filed by Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, Advocate, ex-protocol officer of

former [PPP] Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto before Justice Asif Saeed

Khosa in LHC.

 
Talking to Online later Chaudhry Aslam, Advocate, said the petition

would be taken up for hearing on August 31 [2009]. Sessions judge had

dismissed his petition on the plea the [PPP] federal government is

investigating the case, he added.

 
"I have taken the plea in the petition that being head of the state it

was responsibility of former [unlawful] President Pervez Musharraf to

ensures security of life of Benazir Bhutto. A. Rehman Malik and Babar

Awan also escaped from the scene by leaving Benazir Bhutto alone while

Rehman Malik was assigned the task of safety of Benazir Bhutto. I have

made respondents in the petition former Director- General Intelligence

Bureau Ejaz Shah, former [PML-Q] Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi,

former care-taker Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz, Interior Secretary

Kamal Shah and former spokesman of Interior Ministry Javed Iqbal

Cheema and others", he said.

Awan and other 12 persons in the Benazir's assassination case.

 
The application was filed by Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, protocol officer

Bureau Ejaz Shah, former [PML-Q] CM Punjab Pervez Elahi, former care-

taker Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz, Interior Secretary Kamal Shah and

former spokesman of Interior Ministry Javed Iqbal Cheema. Justice Asif

Saeed Khosa is likely to take up the application on 31st [August

2009].
