Worse Than Saigon
Paul Crespo over at American Defense News wrote a scathing piece titled “Worse Than Saigon: Helicopters Evacuating Americans from Embassy After Biden Said It Would Never Happen” about the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. In the piece, Crespo explains that Biden is regretting his previous claims that there would be no comparison between Afghanistan and Vietnam.
President Biden famously stated that there would be no parallels “whatsoever” between Vietnam and Afghanistan. One example Biden pointed to was when in Saigon diplomats had to be airlifted out of the embassy via helicopter, that very thing just happened in Afghanistan.
