These dirty bastard contractors and 3 letter agencies have long been raping and torturing spouses and children in front of their family members. They probably were making bombs and one went off by accident. They likely strap a bomb on some poor civilian and say they will murder / torture / rape his / her family unless they go to point A, and then they detonate them. Perhaps the underwear bomber received his briefs from one of these three letter agencies as a Christmas present before the "smartly dressed man" planted him on the plane and his underwear blew the "crap" out of him.
