Only days after being informed of SB 82, the dangerous “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation scheme getting a committee hearing, gun owners stepped up to the plate. You guys knocked it out of the park. A mere week later this egregious legislation was soundly defeated in the Senate Judiciary Committee on a 5-2 vote. Senate Judiciary Committee vote Huge kudos to Senate Judiciary Chair Lance Russell for his leadership in killing the bill. No surprise the bill’s sponsor, Republican State Senator Arthur Rusch, was one of the two votes against killing this bill. The other vote was Democrat State Senator Craig Kennedy. For many years, SDGO members have stepped up and put a stop to the gun grabbers. It was you who worked tirelessly just last year to restore gun rights by pressuring the legislature to finally pass vital pro-gun Constitutional Carry legislation. Now, you killed a nasty “Red Flag” law, spurred on by the likes of Michael Bloomberg. Yes, it happens even in South Dakota. But you can bet your bottom dollar that Bloomberg and his astroturf army aren’t giving up that easy. In fact, with his disdain for the Second Amendment, you can expect to see more gun control filed. Which is why need to be prepared for anything that comes our way, at a moment’s notice. And we also need to be prepared to hold anti-gun politicians accountable in the upcoming Primary Elections.
