Republicans Supporting Gun Bills With New Restrictions

Nearly all Democrats support red flag laws, along with a growing number of Republicans.
There's a couple of problems. Firstly, red flag laws are a placebo that wouldn't have prevented the El Paso and Dayton shootings.
Secondly, they remove a constitutional right without due process or the presence of a crime.
For his part, President Donald Trump supports expanding background checks, although he added there is no appetite for a so-called assault weapons ban.

1.) South Carolina's Lindsey Graham
Graham, a stalwart Trump supporter, is partnering with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) to pass a bill that'd essentially pay states to implement red flag laws.
2.) Pennsylvania's Pat Toomey
President Trump called the Pennsylvania senator to talk about gun control legislation before he spoke from the White Hosue about the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio.
Since then, Toomey unveiled three bills to strengthen background checks for gun buyers.

3.) Maine's Susan Collins
Republican Susan Collins is expressing support for legislation to close "loopholes in the background check system" following the shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
Collins, a relatively-moderate New England Republican, is mostly sticking to her past positions on gun rights.

4.) Indiana's Mike Braun
"Watching Congress do nothing is unacceptable," said U.S. Senator Mike Braun after last weekend's two mass shootings.
Braun, the Hoosier State's junior senator, argues there's room for improvement, specifically in the areas of background checks and red flag laws.

5.) Iowa's Chuck Grassley
Grassley called for red flag laws while speaking at a gun range.
Per the Des Moines Register:
Grassley acknowledged "mistrust between gun rights advocates and gun control advocates that's led to a stalemate" in Congress, but said one area of agreement is that "we as a society must be better equipped to recognize the warning signs that almost always precede tragedies like the ones over the weekend."
President Donald Trump on Monday morning suggested that one way to address mass shootings is through so-called red flag laws, which would allow family members or law enforcement to limit a person's access to firearms if they are deemed a potential threat to the public.

6.) South Dakota's John Thune
Thune hasn't come out explicitly in support of red flag laws. But he told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader he's "confident Congress will be able to find common ground on the so-called 'red flag' issue."

7.) Ohio's Rob Portman
Portman told reporters yesterday he is open to proposed red flag laws, saying "Clearly people knew something was wrong with this guy, and yet nobody went to the proper authorities or the proper authorities didn't respond."

Turner represents a southwest Ohio district that includes the city of Dayton. Since the weekend's shootings, he has come out in support of red-flag laws and an assault weapons ban.
Turner's daughter was across the street when the shooting began early Sunday morning.

9.) Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)
Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran, has come out since Saturday in favor of universal background checks and raising the legal age for gun purchases from 18 to 21.
"An adolescent, high school fueled grudge is much less likely to survive over the three years between the end of high school and the time of legal age of purchase," Kinzinger said in an op-ed published on Medium.

These disgusting mass shootings have been following a pattern ever since Columbine. Sick and lonely men have decided this is how they will vent their frustration.
