From a good friend in Puerto Rico.

I do not know if we have talked about this before, but if you want to see how the experiment works check out Puerto Rico gun control laws. They were originally based on NY gun control law and it is a fiasco.

Legal guns are very difficult to get, very expensive and only available thru authorized gun shops which are licensed by the government.

An illegal gun is very easy to get; since all delinquents have at least one.  And, it is not as they can drive them into the Island.

We all live in our own jails because every door and window in our homes and businesses have steel bars on them to protect us from burglars.

Breaking and entry is a sport in Puerto Rico and murders are more than 1,000 people a year in a less than four million population. Of course 90% of this is drug related with the criminals having illegal guns.  The other is innocent people getting shot on a mugging or a burglary by an SOB with and illegal gun.

These delinquents know that it is very improbable that someone has a gun in his house because of the laws.  And, also, as part of the deal - to get a gun your neighbors have to approve and they are interviewed by the police.   Also, they keep records of who has what and where; it is a major bureaucracy and a cluster.

So tell those guys to check the Puerto Rico experiment so they can see with their own eyes that it does work even in an island with x-ray machines and metal detectors in the airport and post offices!
