Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressing the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
ran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has slammed the current global politics as discriminatory, based on inequality, and characterized by unilateralism and double-standards.

“Unilateralism, application of double-standards, and imposition of wars, instability and occupation to ensure economic interests and expand dominance over sensitive centers of the world have turned to be the order of the day,” Ahmadinejad said during his speech at the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.

Ahmadinejad stated that the world is in urgent need of a new order and the “abysmal global situation is because of the mismanagement of the world by a small minority that has a destructive behavior.”

Ahmadinejad blamed global management and international powers for the current situation in the world and said, “An order rooted in anti-human thought of slavery as well as old and new imperialism is responsible for poverty and corruption and ignorance and oppression and discrimination all over the world.”

Ahmadinejad said the current world order is based on a materialistic viewpoint, is uncommitted to moral values, seeks to expand hegemony by sowing discord and creating conflict among nations, and aims to maintain monopoly on power, wealth, science and technology.

He also condemned capitalism as the reason behind the rise in global poverty and warned about the widening gap between the rich and the poor.

Ahmadinejad also called for reforms in the United Nations structure and criticized the veto right held by five permanent members of the Security Council.

“The UN belongs to all nations and therefore discriminating among members is a grave offense to all nations.”

The Iranian president noted that the hegemonic powers intimidate nations by testing ultra-modern weaponry.

“Testing new generations of ultra-modern weaponry… is now being used as a new language of threat against nations to coerce them into accepting the new era of hegemony,” he said.

Iran’s president further stated that “mistrust has cast its shadow on the international relations” and “there is no trusted or just authority to help resolve world conflicts.”

“No one feels secure or safe even those who have stockpiled thousands of atomic arms and other arms in their arsenals,” he added.

Ahmadinejad said as the second largest international body after the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has realized the importance of global management and the role of mismanagement in the evolution of crises and problems worldwide.

The Iranian president said the NAM dedicated its 16th Summit, which was held in Iran's capital, Tehran, to the issue of joint global management, stressing the necessity of effective participation of all nations in managing global issues.

As the head of NAM, Ahmadinejad called on all countries to play a more active role in providing grounds for their effective participation in international decision-making process.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in New York on Sunday to participate in the 67th annual session of the UN General Assembly.

This is Ahmadinejad’s eighth trip to New York for a UN General Assembly session since he first became president back in 2005.
