Ilhan Omar

Ilhan Omar has spent the past few weeks in Washington battling charges of anti-Semitism.

The past week has been particularly brutal for the Minnesota Congresswoman as her past tweets attacking Israel and the Jewish people came to light in a big way.

And now, yet another story from her past could be the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Ilhan Omar has become known as one of the most controversial members of Congress after just over a month on the job.

The Minnesota Democrat has been hounded with allegations of rampant anti-Semitism, brought about because of her recent attacks on Israel, her support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement which seeks to destroy Israel’s economy, and her past anti-Semitic tweets over the years.

However, Omar believed the worst was finally behind her.

It’s obvious now, that isn’t true.

And this latest story about her past could be the final straw.

“An article in a local Minneapolis/St. Paul newspaper reported Tuesday that Jewish leaders in Minnesota had spoken to Omar about her views last year — and that she failed to learn anything,” reports Breitbart.

The Twin Cities Pioneer Press wrote the following:

“Last year, before she was elected to the House of Representatives…leaders of Minneapolis’ Jewish community fashioned what could be described as an anti-Semitic intervention of Omar, a rising star of the left whose remarks had made many fellow Democrats in the Jewish community uncomfortable.”

Apparently, Jewish leaders and prominent Democrats in the district, worried about her increasingly vocal anti-Semitic stances, tried to reason with Omar.

“Last year, state Sen. Ron Latz, a St. Louis Park Democrat who has served in the Legislature since 2002, invited Omar to his house, where a number of Jewish leaders had gathered. It wasn’t an ambush; Omar knew that group was there, and their purpose was to enlighten her,” reports the Minnesota paper.

Apparently, the results of that meeting were a disaster.

Sen. Latz reported to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press that Omar more or less ruined the meeting and left those in attendance worried about how she would handle foreign policy in the Middle East.

“Most of us came out of that conversation very troubled by the answers we received. I was not convinced she was going to give a balanced approach to policy in the Middle East, and I was not convinced … where her heart is on these things,” said Latz.

Omar has decided to fight off the growing scandal by doing something all Democrats try to do when they’re in trouble, attack President Trump.

Breitbart reports, “Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) hit back Wednesday at President Donald Trump’s call Tuesday for her to resign from Congress or quit the House Foreign Affairs Committee over her antisemitic rhetoric.”

Omar, after giving a half-hearted apology for her tweets after being more or less ordered to do so by Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi, claimed that President Trump had “trafficked in hate” his “whole life,” while she had “learned from people impacted by my words.”

While Omar continues to dodge the scandal and attack Trump, she hasn’t really shown any effort to demonstrate that she no longer holds the feelings she clearly held prior to being elected to Congress.

None of her anti-Semitic tweets have been deleted, nor has she deleted a tweet from 2012 when she claimed that “Israel has hypnotized the world.”

Patience with Omar in her home district seems to be running thin as well, with Latz even suggesting that the time has come for local leaders to stop treating the Congresswoman with “kid gloves”.
