James Comey Just Said The Last Thing Anybody Ever Expected

James Comey has been known for his political bias.

He has been vocally critical of Trump since leaving his position as FBI Director.

But for the first time, he has directed his anger at the left, and you won’t believe what he had to say.

Being an appointee of former President Barack Obama, it’s no surprise that James Comey leans to the left politically, at least compared to people like Donald Trump.

He was arguably the one man that stood in the way of Hillary Clinton being prosecuted for her email scandal in 2016.

And since being fired by President Trump for his political bias he has let his views be well known in a new book recently released.

But while he leans to the left, it seems that he’s not a fan of everybody on the left.

Comey recently spoke words of advice to Democrats, urging them not to “lose your minds and rush to the socialist left.”

He stated that rushing to the socialist left is what Trump and Republicans are counting on them to do and that Democrats should instead promote “sensible, balanced, ethical leadership.”

While he didn’t specifically mention any politician, it can be easily assumed that he is referring to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who recently defeated the long-entrenched Congressman Joe Crowley in New York.

Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, and her election is seen by many as a radical shift for Democrats who generally have avoided the socialist label.

While Comey appears to be making his advice in hopes of a good reception, he has faced a lot of resistance from those on the left eager to latch onto the ideas promoted by Ocasio-Cortez.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign spokesman Brian Fallon even fired back at Comey, telling him:

Democrats don’t want your endorsement, but thanks.”

But while many aren’t receiving his advice well, he isn’t the first Democrat to make statements to the same effect.

Recently Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois expressed her concerns about Democratic candidates like Ocasio-Cortez.

Duckworth’s contention was based around electability, specifically mentioning Midwestern states, which have multiple elected Democrats in conservative-leaning states.

Those Democrats are elected due to appearing more moderate, and would almost certainly face defeat if they embraced the socialist label.

The Midwest is the biggest problem for Democrats if they choose to go down the path of supporting socialist ideas.

Democrats in the Midwest are already having a difficult time in the Trump-era attempting to both distance themselves from the Trump administration, while not embracing the anti-Trump “resistance movement.”

Sen. Claire McCaskill, who is an elected Democrat in Missouri, is particularly facing troubles.

She is actively distancing herself from the “resistance movement” while still receiving support from groups who directly promote it.

In her upcoming election distancing herself from more extreme Democrats will likely be a main tenet of her campaign strategy.

So while Comey’s advice has faced backlash, it does seem to be embraced, if not openly, by many Democrats.

Do you think Democrats embracing the socialist label will hurt them in elections?
