WHY ONE LETTER ONE VOICE

I created a group not very long ago because I decided to put up the video to the song by Michael Heart "We Will Not Go Down (Song for Gaza)" I found the video to be almost unbelievable that any people should be treated in that manner. As a result, I gave the group a dual purpose now and it's called "Stop Deactivating People for Showing The Truth About Gaza-FREE GAZA NOW!"

Also as a result, I felt the need, as an American to voice my opinions to the new President. What resulted was a wonderful letter that touched many people, particularly Palestinians because it told the truth. Now when an American speaks about a free Palestine, it is something that is not usually talked about. Oh yes, we know about the middle east, but our government spoon feeds us, as well as the media, a one sided picture. I post this letter for you to read. There is a space at the bottom for you to print it out and send it in (address is on the bottom).

Yes, it is written by an American, but one who is neither Palestinian, Muslim, nor Jewish. I have NO stake in this except the just cause of doing what is right. Please read the letter. It doesn't matter where you are from in the world, it only shows your support for Americans who have the same views and beliefs as I do as much of the world has. I will post after the letter what is posted up on our homepage about it. Many thanks for your reading this!

Dear President Obama,

I want to congratulate you on winning the election as President and in making me feel proud again to be an American that has seen an America that has finally grown and breached the racial barrier and has elected the best person for his abilities to lead this country from darkness into the light! You have been our biggest hope of a brighter future since JFK and I see you as the second coming of Camelot elected to lead the United States on a brave new course into a brighter future.

I write this to you, as an American, not only to tell you the joy I feel on your election, but to also bring up the issue of the plight of the Palestinian people. You are again the biggest hope of peace in the middle east since President Carter forged the peace pact between Egypt and Israel. Certainly a momentousness achievement of President Carter and great foresight by both President Sadat and Prime Minister Begin.

What has finally brought me to take action on this issue was the December attack on Gaza by Israel. That the causalities suffered in Gaza were great and most were innocent men, women and children! This is NOT acceptable in the eyes of many Americans who just desire peace in the middle east and a free and independent Palestine. It was more like a massacre than a retaliation act on the part of Israel and should not be condoned by the US or any other civilized country in the world. A slap on Israels hand is not enough to stop Israel from doing it again and again in the future as it has done in the past.

There is something Israel calls a “fence” separating Gaza from Israel. I’ve seen pictures of it, and it is certainly NO fence, but something that more resembles an impenetrable Berlin Wall. The Palestinian people desire peace and freedom, like all self determined people do and the majority election of Hamas was not the Palestinian people desiring war and turmoil with Israel, but done more out of frustration with the puppet government set up by Israel and more of the same. The people grew tired and weary of this and this was the only way they felt they could be heard because they had had enough killing, control and bad treatment they received from Israel and wanted a country that they can call home and the self determination to have part in its future.

At this point I would say that most Palestinians are peaceful people who do not hate the Israeli people but the government of Israel, its policies towards keeping control over the Palestinian people keeping them from becoming a nation and most important, the senseless attacks and killing of the innocent people of Gaza. Out of all the countries in the world, Israel should be MOST sensitive about freedom and the plight of the Palestinian people having known such horror themselves and fled to a newly created Israel to find safety and become an independent nation not subject again to the horrors under the Hitler’s control and their plan on extermination of Jews in Europe.

They have now turned around and are now doing the same thing to the Palestinians, forgetting the past and perpetuating on the Palestinians what was done to them. If we do not learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it and that is exactly what Israel is doing.

There are certainly many peace loving Palestinians who, at this point, only want a free, independent and self determined nation of Palestine to call their home and have the same securities and freedom as any people of any nation do. It is never easy, as we saw with President Carter.

But, there has to be a start right now to open the talks again on creating a free Palestine. The persecution of the Palestinian people must end and Israel must be made to be a part of that and show the world that they will open negotiations again or face the other nations of the world as a renegade country that seeks only its safety and security oblivious to the desires of the Palestinian people and other nations opinions.

The internet has opened up a whole new vista and truth on many issues that governments do not tell you. I see, as do many Americans, the ongoing Israeli settlements in the West Bank and more of an absorption into the State of Israel who has NO intention on helping create a nation of Palestine, but to absorb all the land and have ultimate domination over the will and desire of the Palestinian people.

I write this for millions of Americans who only desire peace in a war torn middle east, a free, independent and self determined Palestine as well as Israels national safety. Many Americans know the weight of the burden you bare in getting this country on its feet again and believe you can do it. It is also time for us to show the world, unlike the last administration, that we seek not to dominate, but answer the pleas of help for freedom from the Palestinians and show the world we seek to be a solution to the problems, not the cause of them.

I am but a simple man who writes this to you not only for all Americans that desire a free and independent Palestine, but also to show you that many of the people in other nations desire the same goal and plead with you to take part and stand in the forefront of being an instrument of peace in the middle east.

May God watch over you and help you go down the path of what is right and just always.

My thanks to you for reading this.

Your humble fellow American,

Raymond P. Sasso

I also agree with the creation of a free, independent and self determined Palestine and want an end to the turmoil, control and death of innocent Palestinians!

THE LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA IS UP AND ON THE DISCUSSION BOARD! THIS LETTER IS FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEND IN, NOT JUST AMERICANS!!!

Please take the time to print it out, fill in the bottom with your name and so on. The address to send it to is printed on the letter. The original letter signed by me is on it's way right now to him.

PLEASE do NOT email it...MAIL IT! I know politicians here and they get tons of email every day, it's easy to send. BUT when someone takes the time to send a letter to them, that gets PRIORITY over all emails.

We are many people with ONE voice and want Obama to act now early in his presidency...that is important. It doesn't matter what country you come from, it only matters that you agree with what is said and that there MUST be a Palestinian state. The more voices from the around the world, the more attention will be paid to it. Pass it on to your family, friends organizations that support this and any way you can find to have people send it in. Post the link up on any political group in ANY country that agrees with a FREE PALESTINE. One voice is a whisper, thousands of voices are a yell, hundreds of thousands of voices is a scream. Make this a scream that MUST be heard and action taken or the Palestinian people will have NO change! Many, many thanks for your support, we are most grateful to you! ONLY IN NUMBERS IS THEIR STRENGTH AND ONLY IN UNITY OF THOSE NUMBERS IS THERE POWER.

Author's Bio: I have always been a political activist since I was a teenager. I work part time in the city hospitals psych ward peer counseling the patients as well as Job Coach training the new volunteers for various jobs. I also volunteer my time to help mentor men and women to be clean and sober. I am single not by choice. I believe that the the cause for a free Palestine has nothing to do with religion (there are many Palestinian Christians and some Jews), but more to do with human dignity, freedom and self determination! I did start one political group in 1995 that I left (for personal reasons) and it still is very active and makes me proud of my accomplishment. I started a group on facebook just about a month ago and it is picking up members very fast. If you are on facebook, here is the link to the group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=52613180678 Please join if you want to Free Gaza and have an independent Palestine! What is most important about my views is that I am neither Palestinian, Muslim nor Jewish, but a simple American who believes there should be a free Palestine and that Israel must be made to leave Palestinian occupied territories. Many Americans share this point of view, they are just not visible or vocal...as of yet!
