Protesters march during a demonstration in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki on December 10, 2008. Protesters hurled rocks today at security forces in Greece's second city of Thessaloniki and were fought off with tear gas, police said. The clashes occurred as around 2,000 demonstrators made their way towards a regional government ministry office protected by a police cordon. (SAKIS MITROLIDIS/AFP/Getty Images)

Hi All:

The link to the photos of the Greek riots were forwarded on to me. Powerful images of mostly young people out in mass.  When the children of the the middle and upper classes start getting out in the streets then you know that something is quite wrong in the world today.  The posting on the blog by the supporters and students sounds similar to what is happening here in our country.  The looting of a nation, corrupt politicians, huge job loses,  ......

Below is a posting from the blog boston.com the Big Picture:

"Οne of the boys, threw a bottle of water at the police car,and not a firebomb, the policeman was not defending himself, but the truth is he was a member of the nazis group called ''Chrisi Avgi'' and his nickname is Rambo.

The members of this group stab immigrants and anarchists and hand in hand with the riot police, beat students when they demonstrate.

The dead 15 year old boy was not an anarchist, he was going to a party with his friends and lost his life because one sick bastard had the right to carry a gun.

This is the only truth, so many witnesses saw what happened that night and a woman recorded the whole scene."

Students demonstrate in front of the police headquarters of Athens, on December 15 2008. Riot squads ringed Athens police headquarters as Greek protesters targeted state institutions, while the right-wing government faced new headaches with the re-emergence of a landswap scandal.
