   Yes, as a New Orleans tourguide, I know about the Houma Indians.  They are the only Indian tribe left in Louisiana, and have never been recognized as a tribe by the U.S. Govt., simply because they never had a treaty with the government.  They have been swindled out of their lands and royalties on natural resources on individual properties by the U.S. govt. and the oil companies.  Their children were not accepted to the public school system until 1966.

   Houma is a city southwest of New Orleans, and was hard hit by Hurricane Gustav.
