Several Democratic senators have attacked one of President Trump's judicial nominees for her pro-life views and personal service on behalf of the unborn, reports Courthouse News.

Sarah Pitlyk has been nominated to a seat on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the report said.

She's worked for several years as special counsel for the pro-life Thomas More Society in Chicago.

She helped defend an Iowa law that banned abortions in the state after a fetal heartbeat is detected "and represented a collection of religious organizations in their successful challenge to a St. Louis ordinance that barred discrimination on the basis of 'reproductive health decisions.'"

She also worked with the coalition defending David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress, whose undercover video work in 2015 exposed the abortion industry's profiting from the sale of baby body parts. Multiple organizations were investigated by members of Congress and referred to the DOJ for possible prosecution.

The nominee said her previous work would have no impact on her judicial decisions, the report explained.

"I think I stand in a long line of other people who have sat at this table who have had histories in advocacy or in issue-related advocacy or in politics and who have become very distinguished jurists," she said.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., questioned her ability to rule impartially in abortion-related cases.

"How can you ensure that a litigant in your courtroom seeking to vindicate her right to an abortion could trust your impartiality given your zealous and passionate advocacy?" he asked.

Democrats also didn't like her "not-qualified" rating from the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, part of the ABA organization that has protested pro-life laws.

She was cited for a lack of trial experience, the CN report said.

However, Pitlyk touted her extensive appellate work and her time clerking for then-D.C. Circuit Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

She said, according to the report, that "part of the reason she has somewhat limited experience in trial and deposition work is the legal teams she has worked on have allowed her to arrange her schedule to make sure she can spend more time with her children."

Trump has nominated more than 150 judges of the estimated 900 on federal benches.

He promised before his election he would nominate only judges who interpret the law according to the original intent of the framers of the Constitution, earning the support of many conservatives. Already, conservative opinions have come from the historically far-left 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to which Trump already has made numerous nominations.
