Robert Mueller just got some very bad news.

The special counsel was blindsided by what he heard.

That’s because a judge just shut down Mueller with a surprising verdict about his star witness.

When Mueller induced Michael Cohen to plead guilty to lying to Congress, anti-Trump journalists thought it signaled the beginning of the end for the President.

They reasoned that because Cohen was Trump’s “fixer,” Cohen knew every dirty secret in Trump’s life and would spill his guts to Mueller.

Cohen’s testimony would provide the backbone for Mueller and the Democrats articles of impeachment.

Democrats scheduling Cohen to testify before Congress on February 7th only heightened the anticipation among the Washington swamp creatures that Cohen and Mueller were about to bring the curtain down on the Trump presidency.

But then Cohen canceled his testimony, claiming that Trump “threatened” him by questioning whether Cohen’s father-in-law had involved himself in any criminal wrongdoing.

Democrats pounced and believed they could pin a new crime on Trump – witness tampering.

That’s when Judge Andrew Napolitano reacted and threw a giant bucket of cold water on this theory.

“We got this bombshell last night that Cohen’s not going to testify. The Democrats are flustered. The Republicans don’t know what to make of it,” Napolitano declared.

Judge Napolitano went on to explain, “Cohen says the president threatened me. So what is a threat? There are two threats. One is something that we all know is a threat. If you show up I’m going to break your legs. That’s obviously a threat. The other is something that the witness perceives as a threat that doesn’t really threaten the rest of us. So if the president says your father-in-law’s a mobster and probably should be investigated by the [Department of Justice], is that a threat? I don’t think that that is a threat.”

Napolitano also questioned the value of Cohen’s testimony and if Cohen would even testify in the first place.

“What are the Democrats going to do? They’re going to subpoena him,” he said. “How much time do they have? Six weeks. Because on March 6 he goes to jail. And the court is not going to delay that nor are they going to let him out of jail to come and testify to Congress,” the Fox News legal analyst continued.

“Something will come out of his mouth under oath before the Congress, aimed at driving the White House crazy. And then we’ll forget about it once he’s in jail,” Napolitano stated.

Congress ended up subpoenaing Cohen.

And Cohen agreed to testify in mid-February before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

That panel is the one he originally lied to.

And it is run by Republicans.

They will hold this interview behind closed doors.

So his testimony will not be a partisan circus.

That’s because as Napolitano points out, Cohen may have annoying revelations, but he has no evidence of collusion with Russia and he will dispute the Buzzfeed story that Donald Trump ordered him to lie to Congress.

Cohen playing the role of star witness will be another swing and a miss for Mueller.
