Robert Mueller is working overtime to take down President Trump.

At this point, it’s his life’s work.

But his work is falling apart after Trump was proven innocent of a crime.

Robert Mueller and the anti-Trump resistance is zeroing in on President Trump.

At the start, the investigation was into Russia collusion during the 2016 election.

But at this point, many Democrats don’t even believe that occurred.

So Mueller is now changing the focus of his investigation to go after anything he can find to take down the President and anybody close to him.

Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen is the first major take-down and is facing three years in prison.

Cohen is on his way to jail for tax fraud, lying to Congress, and campaign finance violations.

Democrats are ecstatic about the campaign finance violations.

The charges stem from a payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels, who blackmailed President Trump with allegations of an affair, which he denies.

Democrats are excited because they think the conviction of Cohen proves that Trump did something wrong.

But they are sorely misinformed.

While it is true that Cohen is facing jail time for the payment, that doesn’t mean he did anything wrong.

Cohen chose to take a plea deal and pleaded guilty in hopes for a reduced sentence.

But if the case went to court, he would likely be found innocent.

The claim that the payment was required to be disclosed comes from the belief that, because the payment was likely to have an effect on the election, the Federal Election Commission must know about it.

But as The Daily Signal points out, that simply doesn’t appear to be true.

“FECA (52 U.S.C. 30114 (b)(2)) specifically says that campaign-related expenses do not include any expenditures “used to fulfill any commitment, obligation, or expense of a person that would exist irrespective of the candidate’s election campaign.””

Because of Trump’s status and net worth, the payment was a rather small cost to pay to protect his reputation and brand.

The payment likely would still have been made if Trump was not running for President.

This is the exact argument Trump’s current attorney, Rudy Giuliani, is making:

“[The payment was] to resolve a personal and false allegation in order to protect the president’s family,” and, “it would have been done in any event, whether he was a candidate or not.”

So while the left wants to think they have a smoking gun to take down Trump, they’re far from it.

Regardless, they will try to push this narrative that the payment is illegal in order to try to harm Trump.

Cohen is headed to jail for numerous crimes, the least of which is the payment.

That is likely why Mueller was insistent to get him to agree to a plea deal.

It’s an easy way to get a win against Trump in an extremely shady way.
