Official government incident reports obtained by Judicial Watch after three years of delay provide a clearer profile of the “unaccompanied alien children” who flooded the U.S. border during the Obama administration and continue to arrive, documenting that among them were admitted murderers, rapists, drug smugglers, prostitutes and human traffickers.

Further, a substantial number of the children were raped or molested en route to the United States or in the United States, and government workers and contractors were among their abusers.

“The Obama administration presided over a humanitarian and public safety nightmare in its handling of ‘unaccompanied alien children,'” concluded Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Significantly, he said, the incident reports “also support the Trump administration’s contention that the UAC crisis, which continues, includes murderers, rapists, drug smugglers and human traffickers being routinely allowed into the United States.”

Trump – who has faced fierce criticism for enforcing a policy in effect under Presidents Bush and Obama requiring that children of parents being prosecuted for illegal entry be temporarily put in the custody of HHS – has argued gangs such as MS-13 have “exploited the loopholes in our laws to enter the country as unaccompanied alien minors.”

Judicial Watch began investigating the matter in 2014 when a wave of “unaccompanied alien children,” or UACs, overwhelmed the government’s capacity at the southwest border. The documents from the Health and Human Services Department’s Administration for Children and Families were submitted to the Office of Refugee Resettlement from May to November 2014.

Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act request Nov. 12, 2014, but only now has received the documents.

The documents show that in fiscal year 2014 there were 24,680 Significant Incident Reports filed with the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Separately, an investigation by Fusion in 2014 found an astounding 80 percent of women and girls crossing into the U.S. by way of Mexico were raped during their journey.

Judicial Watch broke down the incident reports obtained from HHS into four general categories:

  • UACs admitting to murder, belonging to MS-13, threatening others with rape, admitting to drug smuggling, molesting other UACs and seriously assaulting other UACs or staff;
  • UACs who were raped and/or molested on the way to the United States or in the United States;
  • U.S. government contractors and employees allegedly assaulting or having sexual relationships with UACs; and
  • Other incidents, crimes, abuse and self-harm.

Examples of UACs admitting to murder, belonging to MS-13, threatening others with rape, admitting to drug smuggling, molesting other UACs and seriously assaulting other UACs or staff include:
