A 49-year-old Florida man suspected of burglary was stunned by an unexpected reunion with a middle-school classmate with whom he used to play football – because she was the judge.

“This was the nicest kid in middle school, he was the best kid in middle school. I used to play football with him, all the kids, and look what has happened,” Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer told the court.

Arthur Booth, 49, was before her after he’d been arrested by Hialeah police officers on suspicion of grand theft, fleeing and burglary.

She asked if if he’d attended Nautilus Middle School.

He smiled and put his hand to his face, then the significance hit him.

He started crying, repeatedly saying, “Oh, my goodness.”

“I’m sorry to see you there, I always wondered what happened to you sir,” Glazer said.

NBC’s Miami affiliate reported Booth was seen driving a gold Honda that was suspected of carrying someone involved in a home burglary. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off, the report said.

“Booth ran stop signs and was involved in two accidents before crashing the car in the area of Northwest 36th Street and North River Drive,” the station reported.

His bond was set at $43,000.

“What’s sad is how old we’ve become,” Glazer said. “I hope you’re able to come out of this OK, and lead a lawful life.”
