Border Wall GoFundMe Hits Barrier of Its Own

The Iraq War veteran-turned-activist announced he's sending the donations to a self-created nonprofit, instead of the federal government.
Given the change, GoFundMe said the millions Koflage raised will be automatically returned to contributors unless they "opt-in" to support this new nonprofit.
Shortly before, troubling questions arose – made more pronounced by his silence.
An investigative report by The Daily Caller uncovered that Kolfage refused to answer press inquiries about his decision to transfer donations to this new nonprofit, intended to build the wall.
Kolfage publicly announced the creation of We Build The Wall, Inc. last Friday, but documents from Florida's Division of Corporations prove he created the nonprofit over two weeks ago.
The decorated Iraq War veteran wouldn't say why he waited so long to update his donors.
Kolfage also declined to explain why he's directing check donations to this separate organization and whether said donations could potentially compensate him.

Furthermore, TheDCNF has been unable to find any record of We Fund the Wall, Inc.’s formal existence, and multiple inquiries requesting the organization’s founding documents have gone ignored.
Charity Watch President Daniel Borochoff told TheDCNF that raises a “huge red flag.”
“People should give right to the organization that they want to support. Why are they directing money to some other entity?” Borochoff said. “This money could get stolen or misdirected to be used for another purpose.”
“There could be some kind of misdirection of funds or something going on there that people might not be happy about,” Borochoff added. “They really need a good reason for doing that.”
Kolfage announced yesterday one-third of his nearly 350,000 donors have already opted in to supporting We Build The Wall, Inc.
Build the Wall, Inc. is a 501(c)4 organization. That designation, per tax law, means "an organization must not be organized for profit and must be operated exclusively to promote social welfare."
Kolfage's new organization received a boost from recruiting well-known conservatives to sit on its board of directors, including ex-Blackwater CEO Erik Prince, former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, longtime Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke, investigative reporter Sara Carter, and retired Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO).
