ing Mexicans. In the overwhelming majority that is not the case at all but a much-used ploy by the left and others to water down the discussion and take the attention off the crux of the problem.

Neither party of our government has the guts to deal with the situation or any other meaningful situation it seems so the only way we are ever going to get anything done is by the American people, and I mean all of us, to absolutely demand that the chaos be dealt with swiftly and decisively.

The situation at the border is not just an effort by poor Latino people sneaking across the border to get a piece of The American Dream. It goes much deeper than that and all the American people are being shown is the tip of a very large and very cruel iceberg.

I usually keep my columns brief and concise but in an attempt to share some information you're not going to read in the New York Times or see on a network newscast this will be rather lengthy.

In the first place, we don't even have anywhere to an accurate count of how many people are in our country illegally, much less how many more cross the border every day.

Fact: Instead of sending a large shipment of drugs across the border in motor vehicles and airplanes where the whole load may be confiscated, many drug lords have resorted to using people crossing the border illegally outfitted with backpacks full of drugs. They stand the chance of losing one or two backpacks full but usually not the whole shipment.

These human caravans are many times accompanied by para military types armed with automatic weapons and willing to use them. Armed members of the Mexican military are routinely seen on the American side of the border.

Fact: The guides or coyotes who bring the illegals across from Mexico and charge 12 to 15 hundred dollars a head have no concern for the people in their charge and have been known to let them lie on the ground and die rather than giving them a drink of water.

Fact: When they get close to the border the coyotes sometimes separate the attractive women from the group crossing take them out in the desert and brutally rape them after which they force the women to hang their panties on a tree known as a rape tree and the amount of panties hanging on a tree is a source of competition and pride to the coyotes.

Fact: Women, girls and boys are regularly sold into prostitution by the coyotes that bring them across the border.

Fact: The ranchers who live on the border are no longer safe in their own homes. Groups of twenty to thirty illegals, some armed and some carrying drugs, destroy their fences and their water tanks costing them thousands of dollars in the cattle which are their livelihood.

Fact: In the state of California alone 86 hospitals have closed, put out of business by being forced to treat foreign nationals who routinely use the emergency room for nothing more serious than a headache, have no health insurance, pay nothing and don't even fill out any documents.

Fact: Illegals are bringing diseases across the border that we haven't had a problem with in this country in decades. Diseases such as multiple drug resistant tuberculosis, in fact 84 % of the people with this disease are from Mexico and the Philippines.

Leprosy had all but disappeared from the American scene but in the last three-year there have been 7000 cases almost all from India, Brazil, the Caribbean and Mexico.

Fact: Violent gangs come into this country and carry on criminal activities including murder. Mexicans and Central Americans are not the only ones crossing the border into America. Middle Easterners are not uncommon but for some reason it seems their arrests are not made public knowledge.

Fact: Vincent Fox and the Mexican government has no interest whatsoever in stopping or even slowing the flow of illegals.

Fact: The A.C.L.U. and illegal rights groups simply ignore the facts like the ones I've listed above and with the help of the media gloss over this catastrophe.

Fact: If something isn't done about this situation and I'm not talking about next year, this country is headed for a period of domestic violence like we've never seen before.

Fact: America is being sold out by our elected officials.

Fact: Nobody's going to get it done but John Q. Public.

Pray for our troops.

FSM's illegal immigration series has detailed the many crimes committed against Americans who have died at illegals' hands at a rate much higher, we might add, than Americans who have died fighting in Iraq. In this 22nd installment, FSM attempts to summarize this overwhelming crisis and cost to the American taxpayer.

Illegal Alien Crime Against Americans Intolerable

While FSM's illegal immigration series has attempted to put a personal face on the collateral damage of illegal alien crime, note that many of the links in the series detailing some of the crime are dependent on the archiving time of some of the various sources who make their articles available. Once taken down, many of the crimes simply "disappear" from the American consciousness (if they ever made it into such consciousness in the first place).

As an example, we're willing to bet that most people living outside of the Denver metro are not aware that in the fall of 1999 five Asian gang members, illegal aliens as it was reported many years later, kidnapped and gang raped a University of Colorado coed. Initiation rites were involved and they specifically targeted a "white woman."

If it weren't for the archiving efforts of some groups fighting illegal immigration, general knowledge of such incidents would be lost to all but the most serious researcher. Even with the internet it is very difficult to track down and report the participation level of illegal aliens in crime because NO ONE IS KEEPING TRACK OF THESE CRIMES. However, as this series has detailed and documented, crime against Americans by illegal aliens is quite considerable, has reached the level of intolerable and is the direct consequence of our unfettered immigration policy, porous borders, sanctuary cities, and lack of enforcement.

In recent Testimony of District Attorney John M. Morganelli before the House Subcommittee on Immigration, Border, Security and Claims, he stated:

"Unfortunately, the majority of illegal aliens who are here are engaged in criminal activity. Identity theft, use of fraudulent social security numbers and green cards, tax evasion, driving without licenses represent some of the crimes that are engaged in by the majority of illegal aliens on a daily basis merely to maintain and hide their illegal status.

In addition, violent crime and drug distribution and possession is also prevalent among illegal aliens. Over 25% of today's federal prison population are illegal aliens. In some areas of the country, 12% of felonies, 25% of burglaries and 34% of thefts are committed by illegal aliens." (emphasis added)

Ignoring the "minor" offenses such as ID theft and property crimes committed by illegal aliens, here is a summary of some of the collateral damage reaped in crimes as a result of tolerating illegal aliens in the USA:

· In Los Angeles, 95% of some 1,500 outstanding warrants for homicides are for illegal aliens. About 67% of the 17,000 outstanding fugitive felony warrants are for illegal aliens.

· There are currently over 400,000 unaccounted for illegal alien criminals with outstanding deportation orders. At least one fourth of these are hard core criminals.

· 80,000 to 100,000 illegal aliens who have been convicted of serious crimes are walking the streets. Based on studies they will commit an average of 13 serious crimes per perpetrator.

· Illegal aliens are involved in criminal activities at a rate that is 2-5 times their representative proportion of the population.

· In 1980, our Federal and state facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens but at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in U.S. correctional facilities at a cost of about $6.8 billion per year.

· At least 4.5 million pounds of cocaine with a street value of at least $72 billion is smuggled across the southern border every year.

· 56% of illegal aliens charged with a reentry offense had previously been convicted on at least 5 prior occasions.

· Illegal aliens charged with unlawful reentry had the most extensive criminal histories. 90% had been previously arrested. Of those with a prior arrest, 50% had been arrested for violent or drug- related felonies.

· Illegal aliens commit between 700,000 to 1,289,000 or more crimes per year.

· Illegal aliens commit at least 2,158 murders each year – a number that represents three times greater participation than their proportion of the population.

· Illegal alien sexual predators commit an estimated 130,909 sexual crimes each year.

· There may be as many as 240,000 illegal alien sex offenders circulating throughout America. Based on studies, they will commit an average of 8 sex crimes per perpetrator before being caught.

· Nearly 63% of illegal alien sex offenders had been deported on another offense prior to committing the sex crime.

· Only 2% of the illegal alien sex offenders in one study had no history of criminal behavior, beyond crossing the border illegally.

· In Operation Predator, ICE arrested and deported 6,085 illegal alien pedophiles. Some studies suggest each pedophile molests average of 148 children. If so, that could be as many as 900,580 victims.

· Nobody knows how big the Sex Slave problem is but it is enormous.

· The very brutal MS-13 gang has over 15,000 members and associates in at least 115 different cliques in 33 states.

· The overall financial impact of illegal alien crimes is estimated at between $14.4 and $81 billion or more per year. Factor in the crime as a result of the cocaine and other drugs being smuggled in and the number may reach $150 billion per year.

Still think illegal immigration is a "victimless crime" and we don't need to control our borders? Remember, about 60% of the crimes being committed are by illegal aliens who were previously deported.

Allowing our borders to be disregarded coupled with little national commitment to doing anything about it has resulted in growing mayhem by illegal alien criminals, so it is clear that this "victimless crime" is not victimless at all.

As the previous series have detailed, the dark side of illegal immigration includes a lot of horrific crime perpetrated by the hard core criminal element of the illegal alien population. In the cost- benefit tradeoff of tolerating illegal immigration, how much collateral damage are we willing to accept?

In tolerating illegal immigration, how many more murdered (far more than those killed in Iraq), raped and molested Americans will it take before we stand up and state that our lax immigration policies are intolerable, and not worth a savings of ten cents on a head of lettuce?
