15 States Now in State of Emergency! Bush Declares Emergency In 8 States!
Fox News is reporting that these extra 8 states are being declared emergency areas so they can receive federal funds needed for Katrina survivors.
New Mexico and Arizona declared states of emergency a few weeks ago due to violence on the border, militaristic gangs, and human/drug smuggling.
California is considering declaring a state of emergency for the same reasons as New Mexico and Arizona.

According to Fema: Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama declared states of emergency due to storm damage on 8/27 and 8/28.
Arkansas and Texas joined the list on 9/2/2005.
Geoerge Bush added 8 states to the list on 9/5 claiming this will allow them to receive federal aid. The 8 new states are Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida, West Virginia, North Carolina, Utah, and Colorado.
Fifteen states are now in declared states of emergency with possible emergency powers enabled.
