Think again. For those who think that sealing our southern border is impossible.

We live just an hour south of the Canadian border and have gone to and from Canada at several different points here in the NW US. I can attest to the fact that things have become very, very Gestapo-like in recent years, with the worst offenders being on the US side of the border. I believe every word of the following post... -ed

I Had to jump in on this one, though.

I and my mate just spent the last TWO MONTHS poking around the Canada/WA border, talking to folks, listening to stories, investigating land,sea and rail routes..

even slept up in the deep woods a few nights within a few meters (literally!) of some "Old" crossing points of yon..

Forget it... I'm here to tell ya..!

Technology: arial and treemounted cams.. IR, FLIR, drones/miles of sensors/lasers/weight sensitive wires, 1 mile wide swath of cleared forest border ,innumerable guards,checkpoints, snitch society... just asking around casually and at the watering holes, bus stops, coffee shops was dangerous.. and I'm Slick..believe Me!

AND even more surprising , there is an extreme predjudice-nay, A HATRED (by Canucks) of Americans trying same...

and if you DO get over the border..

THEY'll rat you out in a heartbeat.

investigated it ALL and Investigated It THOROUGHLY..

Heard firsthand horror stories from those who tried, met a guy who was legal as can be, just trying to take his family skiiing..and they got REAMED, INSPECTED..sent him HOME AND through the same scathing/micro-inspection from the US side on way back..all for the tiniest lil barfight assault charge the Dad accrued ...20 years ago !! If you have a DUI, Court Order,mischief, even a restraining order from ANYTIME in your US past..

forget it ! No statute of limitations in effect here..nope !

And they are EARS everywhere..people trained (and that obviously get off on) trying to WATCH as far South as Marysville WA for JUST THAT " TYPE/PROFILE" that might be wandering up that away.. Cameras!- OMG..every square inch of highway/terminal..

On a similar occassion during same expedition, Slept in the woods above the Greyhound terminal in Fairhaven one nigh just to watch..Border patrol Rookies- everywhere !!!!

They checked out Every single person that got on or off a bus or amtrak..and this is like thirrty miles South of the Border

BELIEVE ME !!!.. It's like a bad level in Diablo II when it comes to Border Patrol, WSPatrol, Customs..big business/budgets and they ARE GOOD at seeing you coming MILLLLLES AWAY..

..If you're thinking about it..well.. don't do it on your own.

Maybe a hip Canuck ( I was even trying the Ol' Band/Gig route) MIGHT come across and put you in the false floor of their RV, but other than that..don't try it.

Ride the rails ?? (and I know exactly where there is a spot to get on a slow Northbound)-forget that- dogs- heat sensors, x ray...all in place.

It is LOCKED down, all hidden/heavily enforced in the name of Drug Interdiction etc..

AND.. The drug-smugglers that do operate in the mountain passes are a far greater danger than the officials. Horrible lot, apparently, and THEY come across you, you're toast- a threat to their ops. I talked to a few.. really.

If you wanna go to Canada, at least on the BC/West side, the ONLY way you MIGHT make it is to mosey around the San Juan Islands/Marinas or get yerself lined up for same..from FAR AWAY. then go for it..the jigsaw puzzle of islands and waterways sorta defuses the "straight line" mentality of an otherwise locked down border

that extends continuously over to ND.

I kid you not.. I mighta been able to do it solo.. but if you're with somebody, like your woman, guitarist, or kids/family.. It Won't Work!

And again, I studied hard/talked/LISTENED/posted in all the musicicans listings for quite awhile,made dozens of phone calls to the Other Side under the guise of Audition calls/ Bassist needed,responding for employment

at ARt GAlleries, Sales etc....guess what.

The CANADIANS don't WANT YOU,

they Won't HELP, and they are SCARED (conditioned) to even Try.. NO AMNESTY, NO "VISA" or WORK PASS once you get over there.., NO "Hey, it's OK.. you're just like us..we'll stash ya in the jamshed.." NUH-HUH.

Upon further investigation, American slide-thrus are hated worse than Middle easterners or other " Non Canadians".

Gather that it started with the Vietnam -era ex pats, and the Media / PTB up there have had 30 years to wipe that idea out.

And lastly, I contacted/talked with a few Americans-expats who HAD made it, and they ain't no help either... In fact, several I met up in Anacortes/Mt. Vernon actually CAME BACK, more stories of how it sucked "up there", everybody snitching, checking ID at every turn.. Police State/Economy " up there" growing just as BAD as it is here.

Go by SEA THROUGH THE SAN JUANS,

and make DAMNED SURE you have somebody waiting on the dock...
