Did Hinckley Shoot Reagan for Bush?
Do you know that Bush Sr.'s son Neil, the current president's brother, had a dinner date scheduled with the shooter's brother, Scott HInckley, for the evening after Reagan was shot?
(I've always wondered whether this was supposed to be a celebration between the Hinckleys and the Bushes, who were socially close --because Reagan would be dead, and Reagan's VP, George Bush Sr., could immediately become president. When John Jr. shot Reagan, was he trying to please Dad, who was SO disappointed that Bush didn't become Pres in 1980? Just wondering...)
A TERRIFIC BOOK about all this -- a meticulously researched historical novel -- was published 20 years ago by journalism professor Nathaniel Blumberg. It's called The Afternoon of March 30, and let me tell you -- it's not only a GOOD READ -- it's more relevant than ever!!!
Go to Prof. Blumberg's website, and take a look at this book!
