Wackenhut Now Manning Roadblocks In NV & AZ

Smaller Font Larger Font RSS 2.0

ce it is now grown world wide with more than 10,000 employees and with offices in Russia, Colombia, Denmark, Peru, Bolivia and others.

Between Thursday February 20 and Tuesday February 25 private citizens were being pulled over at roadblocks and asked where they were going and coming from and even look into vehicles. These guards were wearing badges similar to police but with the name Wackenhut clearly displayed and used long hand-held mirrors to search under vehicles.

After being pulled over at approximately 9 PM PST on Thursday, AllSouthwest News Service employees kindly refused to answer the questions stating clearly the private security firm had no right to detain us on a public road and we would appreciate it if we could get on down the road. While the guard was in consultation with his partner we posed more questions:

1) Are you searching private vehicles?

2) Isn't detaining citizens on a public roadway without being an official police agency considered false imprisonment?

3) What government entity is paying for this contract with your company

All these questions were ignored and we were told to move along immediately.

Has the Wackenhut Security Corporation now become the long arm of Big Brother? With the long list of Federal government contracts one has to wonder. Wackenhut Corp. provides security for such facilities as Area 51, and Nuclear Power Plants. WSC also builds, maintains and provides security for private prisons and medical and mental health rehabilitation services.

In recent years there has been many lawsuits and complaints filed by prison employees and detainees for mistreatment and abuse. In New Mexico after barely being open a year a Wackenhut Prison experienced 9 stabbings, 5 murders and numerous riots.

In 1997 American Computer Company accused Wackenhut of attacking their servers and computer data centers and suggested that they might be operating a cyber-terrorism Team on the Internet after a Wackenhut mail server accidentally left a digital thumbprint.

With such gross incompetence and outright dangerous behavior can American citizens afford Wackenhut as the coming global police?
