When they came back from break, Rice said there were no problems in Iraq and the problems were contained.
From what I heard of the hearing, only Barbara Boxer asked Rice any tough questions.
Barbara Boxer was raking Rice over the coals on many issues. Some of the commentators act mistified by Barbara Boxer would do what she is considering that Rice will be confirmed no matter what. Like it's a given...period.
I have to ask myself why would Bush want Condelessa Rice as Secretary of State considering the way men of the Middle East countries look on women in general and black women in particular. They will not respect her or listen to her. They, of all people, know she has lied to the American people and the world about why we went to war in Afghanistan and Iraq. They will not trust anything she says. She has already ruined any credibility she has because of these lies.
Real motive. So nothing can be resolved in these areas by appointing someone who will be totally ineffective in getting it resolved on any level by their very attitude toward her.
Bush et all doesn't want it resolved. They want the wars to continue indefinitely so they can justify being there by saying they are doing all they can to get it resolved. Rice could honestly put forth her best effort and still get no where because of the opinion the men in these countries have of her. If she deliberately tries to not do her best, all the better.
