The Barr hearing took place today and it was a complete mess from top to bottom with partisan hacks screaming only to get shut down by Attorney General William Barr. Democrats are still trying to claw out of the Russian Collusion hole they dug themselves into and this was just another failed attempt to do so. Here are the highlights:

Barr was asked by Richard Blumenthal if any notes were taken during the meeting between Barr and Mueller and according to Barr, there were notes taken about the call but not by him. When asked if the Senate could see the note Barr told Blumenthal “Why Should You Have Them?”. This was a perfect response because Mueller will be speaking to members of the Senate soon and this will clear anything up, Blumenthal will not be getting a political hit today!

Cory Booker tried taking a crack at Barr but fell face first instead. Senator Booker presented the idea that Trump officials gave polling information to a Russian Oligarch and Barr stated that he was not aware of this. Senator Booker boldly stated he could cite this from the Mueller Report but never actually did so, he instead quickly opted to change subjects instead. So much for making a great campaign ad.

Presidential candidate Kamala Harris told Barr that he should resign during the hearing while in the midst of an explosive tirade. She didn’t stop there though, she went on to accuse Barr of lying to Congress and trying to cover for Donald Trump. Her tirade was focused on Barr stating that he didn’t know if Mueller supported his conclusions.

Attorney General Barr told the Senate that he did not exonerate the president, he said that the Justice Department was trying to establish the legal matter and they did not have sufficient evidence to do so. He pushed this matter towards the American people and told the Senate that the matter was in their hands as the evidence was not there to force a legitimate prosecution.

Senator Ben Sasse used his question time to deliver a message to the American people. He stated that it was “tragic” that many wouldn’t watch the hearing and that many would just watch to reaffirm their narrative, pro-Trump or anti-Trump. The soundbites of his speech are making their rounds in the media and will for a while.
