The BLM at first expected to sell the cows they rustled from Bundy, but under Nevada law, transferring ownership of the cattle required paperwork Bundy himself would have to sign confirming that he was transferring cattle with his brand into new ownership. Since the BLM could not get that signature, the BLM, rather than admit they blew it and return the cattle, simply killed them and buried the carcasses in the desert.
I wonder how many hungry Americans our kind and compassionate Federal Government could have fed with all those cows, instead of dumping them in mass graves?
