After the Corps of Engineers nearly drowned metro New Orleans, the 110th Congress rewarded the agency.

Yes, you read that right.

Congress gave additional power and authority over all levees nationwide to the Corps of Engineers, the agency deemed responsible for the death and destruction in metro New Orleans six years ago today.

We discovered this disturbing but important information while researching documents for our nomination of the levee breaches to the National Register of Historic Places.

Since 55% of the nation's population lives in counties protected by levees, a lot of people should care about this.

You can help New Orleans and keep this story out in front of the American people by leaving a comment.

Facebook and Twitter users, you know what to do.

As always, thank you for your support of Levees.org.
