How Quickly We Forget

ed as refugees, wandering between countries with no status and only the clothes on their backs, while ’back home’ the death tolls approach millions of dead or desecrated by “American Interests.” Have we really become this vile, this narrow and this pig-headed, in just six years? We wave a flag that has become heavy with the blood of innocent people while nationally we speak of heroes, and sacrifice and being “number one”! We’re “Number One” alright, but not in any of the things that count. If this keeps up the short and arrogant life of the United States will be expunged from the history of the world as the most heinous of nation states since Ghengis Khan destroyed the East in the 1200’s.

The headlines will keep on coming, but if what they herald doesn’t begin to change soon – then nothing much will really matter anymore. If we continue to forget even recent history, then we are destined to repeat it all—with an intensely personal vengeance!

America-incorporated has become an errant spendthrift with a huge psychosis for violence as the only solution to every problem. This is easily summed up by Rumsfeld in his infamous phrase: “War, War, and Lots-More-War!” Speaking of which, Rummy that perpetual Dream-Slayer of civilizations, is still on the job and hiding in plain sight, according to Jack Blood.com:

“Rumsfeld is still running the War Department

A recent article in the Washington Times by Rowan Scarborough, (“Rumsfeld’s transition raises questions” 1-25-07) confirms that Rumsfeld has resurfaced in Arlington, VA and opened a “government-provided transition office with 7 Pentagon-paid staffers working for him”. He is listed as a “nonpaid consultant” so he can continue to “review secret and top-secret documents”. As Scarborough aptly notes, “Rumsfeld has left the Pentagon but not the Defense Department”. He is accompanied by his top aide, Stephen Cambone. The question this raises, of course, is whether Rumsfeld is still calling the shots at the Pentagon? My guess would be; Yes. The Rummy-resignation was just more-of-the-same War Department hocus-pocus (psy-ops) There was never the slightest possibility that Dick Cheney would take congress’ disapproval of Rumsfeld’s performance seriously and throw him overboard. Rummy and Cheney are joined at the hip; you can’t dump one without the other. Consider Cheney’s comments just last week to fully appreciate his disdain for congress. When he was asked about the senate resolution which rebukes the president for surging more troops into Baghdad, Cheney sneered, “It won’t stop us.””

“How Quickly We Forget!” Do Americans give a damn that the failed generals who ‘administered this failed war-on-Iraq will continue in the tradition of the “YES-Men” who serve not the nation but the self-appointed Dictator? Congress continues to rubber-stamp every move that is dictated to them without so much as a whimper, including every new General-in-charge-of-Slaughter! In fact, to conclusively prove “How Quickly We Forget” just look at the electorate in the battle with American political hacks. In spite of two stolen presidential elections, rigged ballot boxes, and the illegal-enemy’s-lists drawn up by a paranoid government – the November elections saw both houses of congress change hands in 2006: THAT was supposed to change everything! In fact it changed NOTHING!

“How Quickly We Forget!” True to form the same hacks are back—touting the elections of 2008 as the new “solution’ to all of America’s problems—despite the fact that thousands are dying every month in Iraq and Afghanistan, along with hundreds of our own. IF we had not already forgotten the elections of 2006 – we would remember that those elections were also supposed to have been the beginning of real changes in this government and in our war policies. But Rummy is still there doing his filthy thing, Bush is still spitting on the public’s demands for an end to his wars—and the media has whipped up about a dozen candidates for president who are all SO seriously trolling for approval about something that isn’t going to happen for at least another eighteen months. What do you say to the survivors of all the death that will happen between now and then – “We will deal with it, but only in the next election”?

“How Quickly We Forget!” The nation has been waiting on medical care for everyone, no strings, no insurance, and no exceptions – for at least the last 50 years that I’ve been watching this charade. The governor of California wants to force every Californian to buy medical insurance, including the unemployed—but insurance is just legalized extortion—what is needed is medical care, and not more income streams for the already-rich! There are close to 50 million people who are not covered by anything except their own poverty, and that number is growing daily, while the politicians try to steer the plight of the medically poor into the coffers of the Insurance Industry, and while hospitals and clinics are closing at an unbelievable rate.

“How Quickly We Forget!: The Billions upon Billions that keep disappearing from the War Department’s gifts to privatized-industry, in those secret no-bid contracts: yet hundreds of thousands are still waiting in New Orleans for help to resettle their lives—but there is nothing at all from the US government, from FEMA or from any official source that had a responsibility to RESPOND to a crisis that happened in September of 2005! “No money” is the common refrain and yet the Superdome was rebuilt, the museum-home of Robert E. Lee was rebuilt, at the same time that the black population was being denied rental assistance in those places to which they had been forcibly disbursed to: from Alaska to Maine. Now government wants to bulldoze 5,000 livable apartments because they sit on land that is too valuable for the poor to live on. What this so-called government is doing to people is not confined to the millions who are being destroyed overseas: It’s happening everywhere HERE, to the least of our own citizens who have been deemed worthless by this government!

“How Quickly We Forget!” This applies directly to how we view the world, but most of all it should apply to what is really meant by “American Interests.” What are these interests! Are they American, Israeli, Corporate or the founding principles of the New World Order that includes all the aforementioned plus a few more of those seriously-criminally-minded organizations to which the filthy-rich belong? We are in a war that has been going on almost since the nation was founded – and we’re losing, in case you might not have noticed. A friend, visiting from Ireland, told me last night that he picked up an LA Times and looked at the jobs section. “I couldn’t believe it!” he said. “What they’re offering to pay is the same or worse than it was ten years ago.” And yet: “the bonuses going to the CEO’s and board members are in the 36% range. This increases their already staggeringly out-of-control pay packages.” We decided that the working side of this equation needs a real revolution or we will soon cease to have the means to even exist.

“How Quickly We Forget!” that life is about more than a simple race to the top of the economic ladder. Our schedules for out pitiful lives are ridiculous, whenever a Katrina happens, or a new Nuclear War breaks out – but between events we are supposed to begin to look at how much of this can be controlled. “How Quickly We Forget.” that we can throw the Treasonous-occupants in the White House out of office. We can use the constitution to do that–or we can use the power of the people to do it. Either way, if we do NOT do this, then those in power have already made it clear that they will lock the doors to this cage that we’ve all been quietly living in since well before 911.

If we do not wake up and come to our senses, BEFORE the bombs begin their annihilation of yet another capital and yet another people then we shall have no need for memory – because our lives shall no longer be our own! It’s still “Up-to-US” but for how much longer can we really afford to continue to be so forgetful of everything that really matters?
