LDec. 14, 2016

I have been reporting on the DMV stats periodically since California's AB60 was passed. The law allows those who aren't citizens or permanent residents to get a driver license if they provide proof of residence, pass a written-knowledge exam and a behind-the-wheel driving test.

Maybe President Trump can use this address database to conduct round-ups of illegals in California? Hey, it'd be a start!)

The DMV had made a big deal about sharing the numbers of applicants, and they had done so, at first monthly, then quarterly. Their website still claims that the statsstats are available. but their hub, which they had described as "The DMV has a helpful AB 60 information webpage, http://ab60.dmv.ca.gov," no longer exists.

So I contacted the DMV and they politely replied, informing me that they no longer post the numbers on their site but that that can send me the numbers, which they did.

792,000 people received an AB60 driver licemse since January 2, 2015 to October 31, 2016.

960,000 people had begun that application process.

So I guess that 168,0000 who did not succeed in passing the written or driving tests just do not drive around.

14,000 applicants were issued AB60 driver licenses in October 2016 alone.

Nearly 10% of all statewide DMV Customer driver license visits in October 2016 were AB60 applicants.

Hete are all the most recent stats verbatim, from the DMV:
