The United States has condemned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Crimea, saying the trip was “provocative and unnecessary.”

“Crimea belongs to Ukraine and we don’t recognize of course the illegal and illegitimate steps by Russia in that regard,” US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Putin visited Crimea on Friday to mark the 69th anniversary of the Soviet Union victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

The trip was his first visit to the region since Crimea joined Russia following’s March referendum.

“We do not accept Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea,” US National Security Council spokeswoman Laura Lucas Magnuson said in a statement. “Such a visit will only serve to fuel tensions.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney also on Friday called Putin’s appearance “certainly not helpful.”

“Any effort that he engages in that further destabilizes the situation in the rest of Ukraine, including in the east and the south, is very unhelpful,” Carney told MSNBC.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton condemned the presence of Putin at a military parade in Crimea.

“An important day in our shared history, dedicated to honoring the enormous sacrifices and giving remembrance to the millions of dead in the Second World War, should not have been instrumentalized to give visibility to the illegal annexation of Crimea,” Maja Kocijancic said.

NATO’s Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen also branded the visit “inappropriate.”

This is while the United States has sent hundreds of troops to Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the wake of the crisis in Ukraine.

The Western military build-up at Russia’s doorstep has raised concerns of a direct confrontation between the NATO military alliance and Moscow over Ukraine.

So it is not okay for the great Vladimir Putin to visit part of the Russian Federation to celebrate Victory Day against the nazis (a second victory since the recent nazi coup d’etat funded by Deutsche Bank derivatives)? How can the U.S Government come out with some nonsense when they send sneak in CIA Director, John Brennan into the Ukraine and not to mention troublemaker supreme, the demented terrorist known as John McCain. This is hypocritical as usual and it is time Putin put a stop to these swines and that pirate City of London.
