Iraqi commission to check presidential documents

Baghdad, The Iraqi Integrity Commission called on Monday the three presidencies (the Republic, parliament, and ministers) to submit their documents within a period of four weeks, saying that those who delay the submission of the documents will be referred to the Integrity Commission.

Bahaa al-Araji, the chairman of the commission said in a press conference held at the Palace Conference in Baghdad that his commission will present a proposal to cancel paragraph (b) of the Criminal Procedure Code, which prohibits accounting or capturing the employee without the approval of his official.

"The demonstrations taking place today in the Iraqi street protests are mostly done against financial and administrative corruption, and the integrity committee must have major role, and the parliament expresses truely the will of the people."

"Most of the institutions of the state are accused of corruption, and the work of the Integrity Commission is objective," adding that the commission formed three committees which works are linked to ministries and provincial bodies not related to a ministry."

The Iraqi parliament passed on Sunday the 2011 budget that worth 82.6 billion dollars in 2011, after its approval was delayed because of the deadlock that Iraq experienced during the government formation crisis, which lasted for more than nine months.

The Iraqi provinces are witnessing a wave of protests condemning the poor services and financial and administrative corruption in government institutions and demanding of better living conditions for Iraqis and the provision of services and employment opportunities in accordance with the promises, which were launched before the parliamentary elections last year.

The Iraqi capital Baghdad is expected to witness on the 25th of this month major demonstration in Tahrir Square at the center of the capital with the participation of civil organizations and political, cultural and youth groups to demand of better services.

Article 38 of the Iraqi constitution states on that "meeting, opinion and expression, peaceful demonstartions and forming association and political parties are all legitimate rights for all citizens without discrimination.
