Mike Huckabee says a Clinton campaign ad in which Donald Trump is praised by members of the Ku Klux Klan is "ridiculous slander" and indicates she has "conceded defeat" in the presidential election.

"There's an Internet maxim called 'Godwin's Law' that states that in any political discussion, sooner or later, one side will compare the other side to Hitler or the Nazis. There's also a corollary that the first person who resorts to that loses the debate," the former Arkansas governor said Friday in a Facebook post.

"If so, then in her speech today and her new commercial, Hillary Clinton conceded defeat by actually claiming that Donald Trump's popularity is a function of his racist appeal to the KKK."

The Clinton ad released Thursday portrays the Republican presidential nominee as the candidate for white supremacists.

"The reason a lot of Klan members like Donald Trump is because a lot of what he believes, we believe in," says a man in a robe identified as the Imperial Wizard of the Rebel Brigade Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in the video. And David Duke, a former KKK Grand Wizard, is quoted as saying "voting against Donald Trump, at this point, is really treason to your heritage."

Special:

A Confederate flag, an image of Trump waving, and a man giving a Nazi salute at an apparent Trump rally are also shown.

Clinton also hammered Trump during a speech in Reno, Nevada, on Thursday, telling supporters: "From the start, Donald Trump has built his campaign on prejudice and paranoia. He is taking hate groups mainstream and helping a radical fringe take over the Republican Party."

Huckabee responded: "For the record: the modern KKK consists of about 150 to 190 small local chapters of extremists, numbering, at best estimate, about 5,000 people. Donald Trump's rallies have drawn as many as 110,000 people at a time. Yes, there are a few racist nuts who have endorsed Trump.

"There are also a few violent, free speech-hating, anti-capitalist nuts who have endorsed Hillary Clinton. Do they represent her views, or those of the vast majority of her supporters?

"It's telling that just as Trump is forcefully defending women and gays, denouncing racism, and making a direct appeal to African-Americans to abandon the failed promises of the Democratic Party that have gone on for generations and consider supporting Republicans, suddenly Hillary is ratcheting up the "RACIST!" volume knob to 11. That's the sound of fear being pumped through a PA system."

He said the Internet has responded to "Hillary's ridiculous slander" by sharing around a photo of her "literally embracing and showering praise upon America's most celebrated former Grand Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan."
