Bank Safetly Deposit Box Contents Stolen!
I have had my safety deposit box drilled and was not informed. I opened the box in early 2000, had a market access acount that provided me with the free box. Kept the account, had not been in the box. Was a 150 year old civil war diary, that was in the box for safe keeping, not to be handled or tampered with. Went to see about it and they had given our box to someone else in 2006, did not notify us. We live at the same address, same phone no. for 25 years. They have no record, we ever had a box, no record it was drilled. I produces the two keys, they let me try them, did not work. Now they say there is nothing they can do. They say they looked everywhere for it. I wonder if this happens more often than folks want to acknowledge. The bank was Coastal Federal Bank until 2006-7 and now BB&T. Any suggestion you have that I can get the word out I would appreciate. Obviously, I will never see this heirloom again and very upset was lost on my watch. Thank you for your attention to !
